YES — last day, and you’ve made it! We’ve covered the core. Now Steps 8–12 bring everything together and get your message off the page and into the pulpit.
🎉
Congratulations on completing the challenge!
Five days – each in stride. You now have a sermon prepped and a system you can repeat every single week.
📖 Steps 8 & 9
Craft a Strong Opening & Close
Your intro and conclusion do more work than any other part of the sermon. The intro earns your congregation’s attention; the conclusion calls them to act on what they’ve heard.
8
Craft your intro. Open with a question or story that grabs attention immediately. Surface the felt need your passage addresses. Then introduce the body of the sermon — ending your intro with your bullet point.
9
Write your conclusion. Briefly summarise the big idea. Make a specific application — what should someone do differently this week? End with a clear appeal: an altar call, a prayer, a challenge, or a next step.
🎤 Steps 10–12
Write, Practice, and Preach
The final three steps take your outline from paper to pulpit.
10
Develop your manuscript or outline. Write it out in full, or build a tight outline with key phrases. Whichever format you’ll actually preach from — make it usable.
11
Practice it 5 times. Each pass, ask yourself: Is it clear? Can anything be cut? How’s the delivery? By the fifth pass, it should feel natural — not memorised, but internalized.
12
Preach with three ears. Listen to God as you preach, listen to yourself for clarity and energy, and stay tuned to your congregation’s response.
Pass 1–2Full read-through — clarity check
Pass 3–4Can anything be cut?
Pass 5Delivery — pace, pauses, energy
💡 Worked Example — Proverbs 16:3
A Strong Open and a Memorable Close
✦ Intro
“Why are you here — at this church, in this city, on earth right now? It’s not an accident. God has a plan for you (this is the bullet). Turn with me to Proverbs 16:3.”
✦ Close
“if you believe God can establish his plans for you, raise your hand. Keep that hand up. If you want to commit your views to the Lord, raise your other hand. You have now let go and let’s die let’s pray together.
⚡ Action Step
Synthesize Your Preachable Sermon
1
Using your bullet and outline from Days 3–4, draft your intro — hook, need, bullet. (5 min.)
2
Write your conclusion — summary, application, appeal. (5 min)
3
Birth your manuscript/outline — “copy and past” your precious material into a cohesive & faithful message.
4
Practice it once aloud, all the way through.
5
Notice what feels clunky. Fix it. You’re done.
